HEAL Palestine in Chicago Welcomes 4 Palestinian Children

HEAL Palestine in Chicago Welcomes 4 Palestinian Children. The goal is to provide them with the healthcare they couldn’t access in war-torn Gaza. It was a welcome they will never forget.

Community members cheered as the Palestinian children arrived at O’Hare Airport on Sunday afternoon. They will now be calling the U.S. their temporary home amid ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

“Most of the kids we bring have suffered from traumatic injuries, bombings, and gunshot wounds,” said a representative. “Our field workers in Gaza identify the kids, and based on their medical condition, we start looking for hospitals in the U.S.

that will accept them. Obviously, some kids cannot be treated, but for those who can, we do our best to provide the necessary care.”

Three of the children will receive treatment in Chicago, while one will receive care in Cleveland. HEAL Palestine, a nonprofit, helps with their visas, arranges for them to stay with host families, and connects them with the healthcare they need. The children will also enroll in school.

HEAL Palestine says they’ve helped more than 30 Palestinian children across the U.S., and the plan is to help more. Depending on the severity of their injuries, these children could be staying in the U.S. for six months or even longer. We’re told that local hospitals will be donating healthcare.
