Biden vs. Trump: In his first public address since leaving office, former President Joe Biden spoke in Chicago Tuesday night.
In his speech, focused on rallying support for Social Security:
“Social Security is more than a government program. It’s a sacred promise, a promise of the White House address.”
During the briefing:
“President Trump is absolutely certain about protecting Social Security benefits.”
Leavitt also faced questions on Kilmer Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man who Trump’s team admits was wrongfully deported to a prison in El Salvador, as his wife in federal court Tuesday fought for his return.
This week, President Trump met with El Salvador’s President Kelly, as both leaders made clear they have no plans to bring Garcia back to the States, with Trump also discussing the idea of sending U.S. citizens to foreign prisons.
Trump has also threatened to pull nearly 9billion in federal funding for Harvard University after heal ready froze around 2 billion in grant money and is now calling for the Ivy League to lose its tax-exempt status if they don’t make changes—
like limits on activism and reporting foreign students who commit conduct violations on campus. They also must end D-I programs, allow audits, and share information—efforts the Trump administration says aim to combat anti-Semitism following campus protests.
