: What we’re learning about the moments leading up to the gunfire. That’s exactly where we start on this Saturday evening. Good to have you with us. I’m Eric Perry. All of this unfolding inside of the Ingles Market is on Rock Bridge Road, a very busy shopping plaza.
Fox Five’s Kim Loeffler has been there on the scene all throughout the afternoon. Kim. Police say that it started as an argument. But you talked to the fiance of someone inside, and they rushed to help one of the victims. Walk us through what you’re learning.
: She told me, just hurry up and get here. And I just heard a lot of commotion in the background. Franz Bryce says he got a call from his fiance, who works at the Ingles on Rock Bridge Road, to get there fast. She told him two employees got shot inside.
From what I know, it was a it was a hail of bullets, basically from the assailant. Some were about 6 or 7 shots from him. And one of the, the people who worked there went for his weapon and returned fire to protect. I guess he was trying to protect who was working there. He says his fiance immediately helped one of the victims until medics arrived to take them to the hospital.
I heard that the produce manager got hit in the chest. My fiance applied chest compression with her with her hoodie. The lady who worked in the deli. I heard she got shot in the hand. DeKalb County police say multiple people who knew each other got into a fight in the store, which escalated to gunfire.
They say the two people injured were not connected to the incident. It’s unclear what led up to the argument and gunfire. So far, no word on any arrests or suspects. Police are looking for. Bryce says he’s relieved his fiance is okay.
I’m still a little nervous because when she. When she came out, there was blood all over her white shirt and her pants. You know, these are good people, so they they shouldn’t have to go through this.
Again. Still a lot of questions about this shooting, including exactly what led up to all this and who who all is involved. We also did reach out to Ingles for a comment about what happened. We’re still waiting to hear back live this evening in DeKalb County.
