Nuclear Timeline: How Close Is Iran to a Weapon? Experts Weigh In

Nuclear Timeline: Iran could produce enough weapons-grade uranium for three nuclear bombs within three weeks, according to a new assessment by the Institute for Science and International Security. This alarming timeline emerges as IAEA inspectors report Tehran has begun installing advanced centrifuges at its fortified Fordow facility, while stonewalling investigations into undeclared nuclear sites.

Western intelligence agencies are divided on Iran’s final steps, with some arguing the country already possesses the technical capability but is delaying weaponization for political leverage.

“The breakout clock is ticking louder than ever,” warned former U.S. nuclear envoy Robert Einhorn, noting Iran’s current 60% enriched uranium stockpile (142 kg) could be quickly upgraded to weapons-grade.

However, Mossad sources suggest Supreme Leader Khamenei has not yet given the final order to assemble a warhead, preferring to keep the program in a “threshold state” for negotiation leverage.
