Qatar Prime Minister Inaugurates 34th Doha International Book Fair: Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs officially opened the 34th Doha International Book Fair (DIBF) on Thursday, launching this year’s edition under the theme “From Engraving to Writing.”
The prestigious literary event will run until May 17 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), showcasing publications from around the world. This year’s fair features over 500 publishers from 42 countries, with special emphasis on Qatar’s cultural heritage and the evolution of written communication.
“The book fair represents our commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and celebrating the written word’s journey through history,” stated the Prime Minister during the opening ceremony, which included cultural performances and author discussions.
Organizers have prepared a rich program including 400 cultural activities, workshops, and seminars with renowned Arab and international authors. The event also highlights Qatar’s role as a regional hub for intellectual dialogue, with dedicated pavilions for rare manuscripts and digital publishing innovations attracting scholars and bibliophiles alike.
