Riyadh to Launch Self Driving Taxi Service in Groundbreaking Mobility Initiative: In a major technological leap, Saudi Arabia will inaugurate its first self-driving taxi service in Riyadh within days, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.
The pilot program features a fleet of electric autonomous vehicles equipped with LIDAR and AI navigation systems, initially operating in the King Abdullah Financial District before expanding citywide.
The project aligns with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030 goals to position the Kingdom as a leader in future mobility. “This isn’t just about transportation—it’s about redefining urban living,” stated Transport Minister Saleh Al-Jasser, noting the service will integrate with the Riyadh Metro through a dedicated app offering real-time bookings and cashless payments.
